Elizabeth Talbot, Ph.D. Named Woman of the Year by Association of Adventist Women

LOMA LINDA, CA – The Association of Adventist Women has named Elizabeth Talbot, Ph.D. as the 2024 Woman of the Year for Spiritual Leadership and Media Ministry. Talbot was presented this honorary award at the Association of Adventist Women Banquet on October 12, 2024. Talbot was recognized for her commitment to sharing Jesus through her preaching, writing, and visual ministry.

“I am grateful to the Association of Adventist Women for this award. First of all, I thank Jesus for achieving our salvation, and for choosing women as the first witnesses of His resurrection. I also thank the North American Division for their commitment to encourage women in leadership. And I want to recognize that without the awesome Jesus 101 team that works alongside with me, we wouldn’t be able to create this quality of Christ-centered biblical resources. Praise God for His guidance in leading this ministry. It is all about Jesus,” Talbot stated upon receiving the award.

Other 2024 Woman of the Year Award recipients include: Silvia Scholtus, Ph.D. for Church Leadership and Scholarship; Vi Zapara, Ph.D. for Philanthropic Leadership; and Rene Drumm, Ph.D. for Scholarship and Church Leadership. The Association of Adventist Women also awarded a Champion of Justice Award to Victor Marley, MA, President of the Norwegian Union.

The Association of Adventist Women works to advocate for the participation of women in all leadership roles in Seventh-day Adventist organizations and communities around the world. Since 1984, the organization has recognized individuals that have made outstanding contributions to their church and community.

Elizabeth Talbot, Ph.D., is the Speaker/Director and Founder of the Jesus 101 Biblical Institute (Jesus101.tv) – an official media ministry of the North American Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Talbot speaks regularly at public events around the world and focuses on developing resources that can be used for in-depth Christ-centered biblical studies. Jesus 101 Biblical Institute is celebrating 15 years of ministry! Jesus 101 is one of the seven official media ministries under the North American Division, and exists to introduce people to
the real Jesus of the gospel and to equip them to share His love with others. The primary purpose of the ministry is to reach everyone with the good news of Jesus, offering hope and
assurance through Christ-centered biblical training.

Jesus 101 develops resources that motivate and equips individuals for the study of Scripture, while encouraging authentic discipleship, wholeness, and service. Under the direction of Dr. Elizabeth Talbot, Speaker/Director and Founder, Jesus 101 has created a vast array of media resources to facilitate biblical studies.

Dr. Elizabeth Talbot stated, “Creating resources for Jesus 101 has been such a privilege for me and I love seeing how our videos and studies are being used across the Division to facilitate deeper biblical studies! Woo Hoo!”

Rest and Righteousness: Grace a Lot or Grace Alone? written by Dr. Elizabeth Viera Talbot of the
Jesus 101 Biblical Institute was awarded an Award of Merit by the Associated Church Press. The
article was originally published in Ministry Magazine: International Journal for Pastors as a
transcript of part of Talbot’s lecture to all NAD Ministerial Directors on the topic of
Righteousness by Faith and the Sabbath. The article was selected for this award in the 2022
Best of the Church Press Awards in the category for scholarly articles, and presented at the
Associated Church Press Awards Banquet on April 20, 2023. The Associated Church Press
Awards recognizes outstanding work contributed to the Associated Church Press in the field of
religious journalism. The Scholarly Article category requires award recipients to have work be
compelling, analytical, impactful, well-researched, and an in-depth study based on original
research in the religious field.
